Search to System was not built in a classroom. It was built from two moments eight years apart. In 2017 a single video of Robert F. Smith speaking about the Fourth Industrial Revolution stopped Ray cold and changed his trajectory permanently — inspiring a pivot to learn how to code.
That same conviction led Ray to found Black Tech Mafia (BTM), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Nashville, Tennessee dedicated to technology education and economic empowerment in underserved communities. BTM started by teaching youth to code and has expanded to include AI workshops specifically designed to prepare the next generation for the AI-driven workforce of the future — because the students entering the job market in the next five years will compete in a world that did not exist when they started school. Built on one belief: The NEW HU$TLE IS TECH. BTM uses entertainment and music to gain the attention of young people into the world of technology.
In September 2025 that journey came full circle when Ray met Smith in person as the founder of Black Tech Mafia, thanked him, and asked him one question: "How can underserved communities leverage AI to be part of one of the greatest wealth creation opportunities in human history?" The six months that followed turned that answer into this framework.
